Music Generation Trad Stage
Launch of new MGSD Traditional Irish Ensemble
Plans are underway to develop an ensemble opportunity for young traditional musicians around the South Dublin County region. A call for young intermediate/advanced musicians to participate through a nominated process in the hubs and through local music providers, is now underway. This ensemble would workshop shared repertoire with the MGSD traditional team over 3 Saturdays in 3 locations around the South Dublin County region in advance of Ruaille Buaille and would then perform in the Traditional Tent on Saturday 10th June, assisted by renowned traditional musicians Aimee Farrell Courtney and James Mahon (Uilleann Pipes, Flute, member of Kila). It is hoped that this ensemble will grow and develop over time and will meet once a month from September onwards.
Ruaille Buaille is delighted to have the support of Music Generation South Dublin under their co-ordinator Aideen McLaughlin. Other Music Generation events taking place as part of Ruaille Buaille in Griffeen Park are;
Music Generation Choir from St Brigid's JNS, Tallaght performing alongside The Henry Girls, with pre-festival tuition by Lorna from The Henry Girls. Holy Rosary Primary School, Firhouse, recorder project with the Gregory Walkers, with pre-festival tuition from Laoise O'Brien from The Gregory Walkers
