The Henry Girls
The Henry Girls make their first appearance at Ruaille Buaille
This is the first time for The Henry Girls to perform in Lucan and we hope it will be the first of many! They will also lead two school singing projects in advance of Ruaille Buaille in the Park, with the Music Generation Choir from St Brigid's JNS, Tallaght and Scoil Aine Naofa, Lucan both sharing a stage with The Henry Girls on Saturday June 10th.
Donegal has a reputation for having music as beautiful as its awe-inspiring landscape and The Henry Girls are part of the proof; Malin sisters Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin make music that will give you goosebumps. The harmonising, lilting and sweet voices imbue their music with overwhelming romanticism. The very classic and traditional folk sound is given an edge with Americana, bluegrass and blues sounds, received to huge acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.
As well as having a great rapport with adult audiences, they are renowned for their children's concerts, so much so that The Ark (children's theatre in Dublin) commissioned them to write a show in 2015 specifically for children; Tracks in The Snow was a great success with 33 (mostly sold out) shows followed by an invitation to do the show again in winter 2017. Collectively and seperately, they have many, many years of experience doing childrens' music workshops and teaching for various organisations such Donegal DMEP, Live Music Now, Music Generation, Donegal Summer School of Music, Ceol Na Coille and more.
See them live and drift away with celtic harmonies, folkish melodies, and a dollop of that world-famous organic Donegal style. Their new album, Far Beyond The Stars is out now.
