Lucan is alive with the sound of music this June!

Ruaille Buaille Lucan Children’s Music Festival is taking place in Lucan from Wednesday 7th June until Saturday 10th June. We have an exciting programme of music workshops, performances and outdoor events, suitable for children of all ages. Ruaille Buaille 2017 is the perfect environment for children and their families to celebrate making and experiencing music.

The festival takes place in Lucan Library, local primary schools as well as our big music day out in Griffeen Park.

Ruaille Buaille in Griffeen Park on Saturday 10th June is a great FREE family day out. Returning to the park this year is singer, actress, ex member of Celtic Woman and multi platinum recording artist, Lisa Lambe. Lisa has toured the world and Ruaille Buaille is delighted she has made the Ruaille Buaille in Griffeen Park one of her gigs for summer 2017.

We are delighted to welcome The Henry Girls, The Gregory Walkers, Indigenous People, Brian Fleming and Instant Orchestra with Nico Brown for the first time and to welcome back Lucan Gospel Choir.

Lucan gospel Choir in association with www.partystudio.ie are offering one lucky young singer the opportunity to win a recording contract for a song with the choir. The choir are working with a number of youth groups to perform in concert alongside them in the park and on the day one  individual will be chosen to record a track with the choir singing the lead solo.

Other highlights of this year’s festival include a new Trad stage with special guests in association with Music Generation South Dublin, a mini-music marquee with early years workshops for our youngest festival goers and the Mobile Music Machine is back this year by popular demand.

As well as an array of great performances, workshops and events in the park, there will be plenty happening including face-painting, circus performers, storytelling, pop-up shows and a foodie corner.

Since its inception in 2008, Ruaille Buaille Lucan Children’s Music Festival has provided an environment where children of all ages can experience music making and be introduced to many genres and instruments in a fun and informal way. Ruaille Buaille has all the wondrous, magical and imaginative ingredients to spark the creativity of every child.

Calling all youth groups! 

We have partnered with Lucan gospel Choir to bring this unique opportunity for local youth groups to experience stage performance with one of Ireland’s leading community Gospel choirs at Ruaille Buaille on June 10th.  Lucan Gospel Choir are working with a number of  youth groups and if you have a group of young people or just a son or daughter who love to sing give us a call.

How it works:

Lucan Gospel Choir will send a learning pack for your group of the gospel songs we are performing (which include happy day, Joyful  Joyful, Hallelujah etc.) so you can learn them. You then become a member of the choir to perform a concert as part of the festival. We will also be holding rehearsals in St. Patrick’s Church Esker on Tuesdays at 6.30 to 7.00pm if you want to practice with the choirs Musical Directors.

 

Festival Day 10th June in Griffeen Park:

We will have a dress rehearsal on the day of the concert at 1:30 to 2:00 then will perform the concert at 2.00pm with the Lucan Gospel Choir.

 

Prize of a recording contract for a song with the choir!!!!

www.thepartystudio.ie have offered  an amazing prize. On the day of the performance  an individual will be chosen to record a track with the choir singing the lead solo. This will include a visit to the Partystudio.ie recording studio to record the song.

We are delighted to announce that bookings for schools are now open!

Ruaille Buaille Lucan Children’s Music Festival is back and bigger than ever! This year we have an exciting programme for local primary schools including Disney Dance Workshops, World Music Workshops with the Indigenous People, create your own folk band in your classroom with The Jim Jug Band, lively jazz concert workshops with the National Concert Hall, engaging and interactive shows with the ever popular Gregory Walkers and Mobile Music Machine to name but a few. Getting your school involved in Ruaille Buaille 2017 costs as little as €1 per pupil. For a full list of this years programme for local schools, please see here. The schools programme fills up quickly so please do book early to avoid disappointment.

Launching our Festival TENT on Friday June 10th with a lunchtime performance for schools and then followed by a weekend of music until the close of Ruaille Buaille on Saturday evening.  Traditional, Small Folk, Classical, Jazz, Theatre, Historical . . . a celebration of culture! Festival TENT @ Griffeen Park

An performance that is not to be missed!

In the spirit of commemoration, Ruaille Buaille will be joined by the star of RTE TV show Centenary. Seventeen year old singer, Sibéal Ní Chasaide, will perform a selection of traditional Irish works, alongside works by renowned Irish composer, Patrick Cassidy, including her haunting rendition of Mise Éire.

This evocative event will also feature local school choirs and members of Music Generation South Dublin, who will perform alongside guest artists.

Ruaille Buaille is also honoured to showcase a selection of music from a requiem mass especially written for 1916 by well known composer and performer Odhrán Ó Casaide.

Ruaille Buaille wishes to express sincere thanks to composers Patrick Cassidy and Odhrán Ó Casaide for adapting such prestigious 2016 commissions for use at the 2016 Ruaille Buaille, Lucan Children’s Music Festival.
